Legislation on Ebikes

Updated: Jul 13, 2020

Ebikes of 250 Watts that only travel at under 25 km per hour, are viewed as being bicycles by the traffic ordinances and can travel where bicycles are allowed by law.

Over 25 km per hour with bigger motors, the ebikes are actually pedicycles and conform to the pedicycle ordinances and are treated similarly to scooters under 50 cc's.

All laws and ordinances that apply to bicycles (as in under 25 km per hour) and pedicycles (over 25 km per hour) should be read upon and obeyed.
